In embodying her character, Lizzy Wizzy, from upcoming dystopian game Cyberpunk 2077, Grimes gives us the transcendental, manic, track that is '4ÆM'. The 'Dewaani Mastani' sample underpinning Grimes vocalizations is used beautifully when placed next to an urgent, almost drum-and-bass chorus. It captures the spirit of the game and the Goddess of Climate Change that Grimes purportedly writes about in her upcoming album, Miss Anthropocene. There is banality in the words, about being cautious of the rain and getting sick from it (and possibility a booty call), but placed on top of a layer of production that alternates between the erratic and the serene. The na-na-na-nas feel celebratory before quickly devolving into complete catastrophe. A great track, another exciting reason to look forward to her new album.
